Ultimate Eyes ( Photoshop Tutorial )

I know there are several tutorials on the internet all about eyes, but this tutorial is sure to give your eyes that perfect “WOW” factor

step 1

We will start by using this already gorgeous picture of an eye. To begin, duplicate your background layer and rename it “Whites”. With the “Whites” layer selected go to Image > Apply Image. Selected the NORMAL blending mode, but make sure that CHANNELS is set to RED.

step 2

You should now have something that looks like this…

step 3

With the whites layer selected, create a layer mask. Now, with the layer mask selected hit CTRL+I to invert the layer mask. Using the foreground color of white, brush over the whites of the eyes only. With the layer mask selected, now use a Gaussian Blur filter set at about 8.0. Reduce the layer’s opacity to around 75%.
Now, your image should look like this…

step 4

Make sure the whites are how you want them, and Merge the two layers. Now, you should only have the background layer again. Duplicate this and name it “Highlights” With the “Highlights” layer selected go to Image > Apply Image, and set CHANNELS to RGB, and BLENDING MODE to LINEAR DODGE. You should now have something like this…

step 5

Again, create a layer mask and invert it. Using a white brush make marks on the eye like this…

Step 6

Use a gaussian blur on the layer mask to get this…

step 7

Now, merge those layers again. Duplicate again and name “Shadows”.
With the “Shadows” layer selected, go to Image > Apply Image, and instead use LINEAR BURN, You should now have this.

step 8

Create a layer mask and invert it. Now, using a smaller brush than last time, brush BETWEEN the spaces you highlighted. Like this…

step 9

Use a gaussian blur again and you should end up with something that looks like this…

step 10

Again, merge the layers, and then duplicate. Now, apply the image again, using the same settings as last time. You should now have this…

step 11

Create a layer mask and invert it. Now, using your pen tool make a path. NOT A SELECTION! It should look like this.

step 12

Right click on the past and select “Stroke Path”. Right click again and select “Delete path”. It should now look like this.

step 13

Now, apply another gaussian blur and adjust the opacity and you are done!
