Learn how to write your name or even draw or drag a pic. with graffiti look_Photoshop CS2 or higher is recommended..
step 1
Pick any well looking brick wall, for me I picked this brick wall texture from this source: http://www.sxc.hu/browse.phtml?f=download&id=904377

step 2
open it with photoshop and click the crop tool (C) in the red circle; at the width and height boxes insert “581 in” for both..

step 3
from the top left of the image drop down the crop tool “it should be cropped in a square form”, then click on the right mark in the red circle…reseizing here mainly is for just squaring and better looking..

step 4
This pic I designed before_not for the graffiti wall_but we can use the text “smash” in it, it seems that it is cool enough to be a graffiti, you don’t have to design something like this, you don’t have to be professional at brush drawing, the graffiti art is all about drawing anything randomly and making it more beautiful and we can do this at photoshop…anyway here is the pic for those who wish to apply my steps…

step 5
now save the image at step 4 on your pc and open it at photoshop with the brick image you cropped at step 3:
1. Select the Magic Wand Tool
2. Set torelance to 42 and click on the black border of “Smash” just one click untill you obtain the selection as shown below..
3. Right click on the selection and select layer via copy…
4. hold down ctrl and drag the selection to the brick image as shown…it will be named as layer 1 on the layers window…

step 6
colour the interior of the word as shown with these colours…
(I repeat that it is not provided to be this pic., you can draw your own word or shape by creating new layer and using the brush tool as I will describe later at step 10…)

step 7
resize the pic to fit on the screen by Right Click on it and choose free transform, at the height and width boxes make it 120% “just to fit”:
1. click the magic wand again, select the black borders…
2. with the eraser tool clear the selection as shown…
3. click Alt+Ctrl+D or head to select menu->Feather..
4. set the feather with radius 5 pxs as shown..

step 8
fill the selection feather with the black colour…

step 9
head to layer->Layer style->blending options or from the layers window right click on layer 1->blending options, choose the blend mode: darken as shown.
NOTE:
Blending mode depends on the level of colour you use; for example: if you use dark colours it will be more suitable to choose Darken or multiply, if light colour choose lighten, or something else suitable enough to show your colour contrast(shadows=the amount of colour)…anyway try all the modes until you obtain the colour contrast..

step 10
ok, create new layer i.e.:layer 4. “from the layers window click on the button in the green circle”:
1. Draw the shape you want using the brush tool “with sharp circle pointer”, for me; I wrote the word” AWESOME”.
2. select the magic wand and the select the word as shown or from layers window hold down ctrl and click on the layer 4 icon..
3. select the background “the brick image” from the layers window.
4. RC”right click”->layer via copy

step 11
1. bring the new layer you copied to the front by clicking ctrl+shift+] untill you face it to your face..:
2. Head to layer->layer style->blending options
or from RC at the layer icon at the layers window, set the blend mode to “pin light” and opacity “26″.

step 12
choose layer 5 “the one you copied from background” and layer 4 “the one you wrote” and press “ctrl+G” or head to layer->Group Layers

step 13
head to layer->merge group..ok, here we still have the problem that the layer still appear as floating and the white colour overlay everything even the shadows so we will have to repair the shadows to be more realistic as follows; select group 1 first, then:
1. select the burn tool as shown..
2. make the Range: shadows..
3. Exposure: 100% and also the brush size 47 pxs as shown..
4. at only the space between the bricks which has the shadows as shown run your brush smoothly until you see the shadows clearly without the white overlay..

step 14
now let the painting run down the brick wall as follows:
1. select the brush tool and set its pointer as shown with diameter 8 px “or smaller than it”.
2. start dropping down the painting with white colour as shown at the green arrow…

step 15
make an artistic drop down as shown with various brush diameters “<8 px”..
NOTE:
from now and then when you drop down the painting, drop it at the smooth brick-surfaces, not at the rough space between them, because the colour drops slope faster and smoother than at the rough spaces..

step 16
to make more 3D and realistic effects for the bricks:
1. select the rectangular marquee at the top left and select layer 1 from the layers window…
2. make a selection for the space between the bricks as shown…press ctrl and move it with the right button at your keyboard with limited no. of moves”clicks”, for me, I moved it 6 clicks…you will do the same with later selections…

step 17
repeat the previous step at the lower spaces”green arrows, Now you are supposed to have something like this…

step 18
graffiti sprays indeed are not that perfect to adhere to the wall rapidly once they are sprayed, so, small traces of painting will start to drop down; for more realistic appearance, select layer 1 from the layers window, zoom in the paintings on the smooth surfaces only and with a brush tool of diameter 1 px start to drop down the dye as shown with minimum amount so as not to deform the pic.

step 19
1. create a new layer “layer 2″ and draw another shape as shown with yellow colour.
2. actually I want to show you something, is that at the blending mode it is not provided that you choose “darken” as you’ve done before, it depends on the level of the colour you use, here the colour is light but it is not provided also that you choose the lighten mode, you will have to try all the modes untill you obtain the suitable one for your colour “colour contrast: the amount of shadow=the amount of colour”, select the overlay mode..

step 20
head to filter->distort->ripple with the settings shown below…

step 21
apply step 14,15,16 and 17 again for the yellow sun…

step 22
for more fun and qualifying your skills at this tutorial:
1. click on the custom shape tool…if not found RC on the shapes button and select it..
2. select the fill colour you want..
3. select the shape you want..
4. create new layer from the layers window as shown before..
5. start making your shapes as shown…or even draw your own shape….

step 23
apply steps 14,15,16,17,20,21 on the new shapes..

step 24
for dramatic spot light_a friend of mine learnt me how to do that:
1. make a new layer as described before, then bring it to front by clicking ctrl+shift+].
2. select the black colour or press ctrl+D..
3. with the paint bucket fill the layer with the black colour..
4. then by elliptical marquee tool make a circular selection as shown

step 25
Zoom out the pic as shown by holding ctrl key and running your mouse wheel down, RC on the selection and select transform selection ; set the side edges with the image’s edge as shown, while the vertical edges:
1.set the upper part as shown,
2. set the lower part too as shown note that the lower part is quit smaller than the upper part
3. click on the right mark button

step 26
with the eraser tool erase the selection as shown..

step 27
deselect and head to filter->blur->gaussian blur and set it with radius 53 px as shown…

step 28
for more dramatic spotlight make new layer, fill it with black again, make circular selection again, transform it, clear the selection with the eraser tool and blur it again with the same setting described before..

step 29
head to layer->layer style-> blending options and make the opacity 21% as shown…

step 30
Final result…ofcourse you can make your own dramatic spotlight better than me, I’m not good at that, I know…
