In this tutorial i will be showing you how to get that airbrushed skin effect you see in glamour magazine.
step 1
I will be using Photoshop CS2 for this tutorial.
First find a stock photo of a girl or guy you wish to air brush.
I recommend using deviantart.com
or photoshoptalent.com
they have many royalty free stocks.
Once you find an image save it to your desktop or a folder that you have easy access to.

I will be using this image.

Now that you have your image saved, open it in photoshop.
step 3
Goto your layers pallate and
duplicate your image.
Set the bottom layer to invisable
just in case you mess your image up you will have a spare.

Duplicate your visable image.
so now we have 3 layers.
two visable and 1 invisable.
step 5
Now select your top image
and goto
Filter>
Noise>
Dust and Scratches

Now with your Dust and Scratches filter open
depending on your image size
set the radius until you get the effect in my preview picture.
which for some would be 4 to 6 or even 20 to 23

Now go to
Filter>
Blur>
Gaussian Blur
step 8
Set you blur radius to 2.0
step 9
Now go to
Filter>
Noise>
Add Noise…
step 10
Set your amount from 33 to 90%
which ever looks best to you.
Set your Distribution to Gaussian
and make sure your Monochromatic box is checked

Now that we have the skin set
lets put a layer mask onto the image.
with your top image selected goto
your layers pallate and click the layer mask button.

Select the layer mask
and choose to fill with black.
Now your image should look normal again.
step 13
Switch your foreground to white.
select your brush tool.
select a softround brush of any size.
it will be used to “brush” the skin on to the stock model.
step 14
Now proceed to brush onto the skin.
avoid brushing on the eyebrows,eyes,
lips, clothing and hair.
you may have to change brush sizes to reach certain parts of the skin.
dont worry about overbrushing, if you do it
switch your foreground back to black and brush over your mistake.
but remember to switch back to white to continue brushing the skin.
step 15
When you finish brushing
it may look a little plastic
so lower the opactiy until its to your liking.

Now that your skin is finished
you can go over and change eye color or highlight the hair and lips or you can leave it how it is.
